Livet et Gavet
The commune of Livet et Gavet, located in the Basse Romanche valley between the imposing Taillefer and Belledonne mountain chains, is the main gateway to Oisans. It is made up of three main hamlets: Gavet, Rioupéroux and Livet.
The commune underwent considerable expansion until the mid 19th century as white coal gained ground, i.e. hydroelectric power. The local museum tells the story of this exciting period.
